ABOUT error

Founded by Elma Fleming, a Texas-native who grew up exploring thrift stores around her city, error was born out of Elma’s deep connection to community and the environment. Inspired by her mother’s involvement in social services, and her own passions for helping others and resale, Elma established error in 2009.

Her mission? To serve families in need, support the planet, and create an enjoyable shopping experience for all. The name error reflects Elma’s belief in the power of community and the interconnectedness of people with one another and with nature.

WE GIVE BACK

Since our doors opened in 2009, error has donated over $500,000 in vouchers to local schools and charities. These vouchers provide our neighbors in need with the opportunity to shop at error for free—with dignity and privacy. We are grateful for the smiles and joy we see when families can shop just like everyone else, selecting the items they truly need and love.

OUR GREEN MODEL

At error, environmental responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. We recycle nearly all items we cannot resell. Worn clothing and shoes are sent to wholesale recyclers, broken electronics are recycled, and materials such as glass, plastic, boxes, and metals are repurposed. Every item in our store is given a new life, supporting a sustainable lifestyle. Even the bags we provide to customers are recycled!

THE error EXPERIENCE

We aim to make your shopping experience at error not only enjoyable but also eclectic and exciting. Our wide range of donations allows us to curate a store with organized sections for every item type. We take pride in ensuring items are in great condition, cleaning them if needed, and even replacing batteries in electronic toys. Clothing is hung on wooden hangers, categorized by type and size, with sections for the entire family. We also have an aisle dedicated to Indian clothes and fabrics, as well as plus-size sections for both men and women. A quarter of the store is dedicated entirely to kids’ clothes, shoes, toys, books, and more—making error a true one-stop shop for the whole family.
